Stable schedule matching under revealed preference

چکیده
Baiou and Balinski (Math. Oper. Res., forthcoming) studied schedule matching where one determines the partnerships that form and how much time they spend together, under the assumption that each agent has a ranking on all potential partners. Here we study schedule matching under more general preferences that extend the substitutable preferences in Roth (Econometrica 52 (1984) 47) by an extension of the revealed preference approach in Alkan (Econom. Theory 19 (2002) 737). We give a generalization of the Gale–Shapley algorithm and show that some familiar properties of ordinary stable matchings continue to hold. Our main result is that, when preferences satisfy an additional property called size monotonicity, stable matchings are a lattice under the joint preferences of all agents on each side and have other interesting structural properties. r 2003 Published by Elsevier Science (USA). Within-session transitions in choice: a structural and quantitative analysis.
The present study used within-session transitions between two concurrent schedules to evaluate choice in transition. Eight female Long-Evans rats were trained to respond under concurrent schedules of reinforcement during experimental sessions that lasted 22 hr. The generalized matching equation was used to model steady-state behavior at the end of each session, while transitional behavior that ...
متن کاملStable Marriage with Ties and Unacceptable Partners
An instance of the classical stable marriage problem involves n men and n women, and each person ranks all n members of the opposite sex in strict order of preference. The effect of allowing ties in the preference lists has been investigated previously, and three natural definitions of stability arise. In this paper, we extend this study by allowing a preference list to involve ties and/or be i...
متن کاملStable Marriage Problem with Ties and Incomplete bounded length preference list under social stability
We consider a variant of socially stable marriage problem where preference lists may be incomplete, may contain ties and may have bounded length. In real world application like NRMP and Scottish medical matching scheme such restrictions arise very frequently where set of agents (man/woman) is very large and providing a complete and strict order preference list is practically in-feasible. In pre...
متن کاملAn Efficient Algorithm for the "Stable Roommates" Problem
The stable marriage problem is that of matching n men and n women, each of whom has ranked the members of the opposite sex in order of preference, so that no unmatched couple both prefer each other to their partners under the matching. At least one stable matching exists for every stable marriage instance, and efficient algorithms for finding such a matching are well known. The stable roommates...
متن کاملApproximation algorithms for hard variants of the stable marriage and hospitals/residents problems
When ties and incomplete preference lists are permitted in the Stable Marriage and Hospitals/Residents problems, stable matchings can have different sizes. The problem of finding a maximum cardinality stable matching in this context is known to be NP-hard, even under very severe restrictions on the number, size and position of ties. In this paper, we describe polynomial-time 5/3-approximation a...
